For designers

Your Design, made where the demand is.

A Designer supplies the Design. Compatible Manufacturers produce it when Customers commit to it. No company has to be founded around a single useful product.

Designs cannot be submitted on this site yet.

What a Designer does

  • Define the Design

A Design is the technical definition of an item: its creator, manufacturing files, requirements, rights, lineage and versions.

  • Offer Variants

A Variant is one configuration of the Design, such as size, material or colour. All Variants are governed by the same Design.

  • State the requirements

Manufacturing requirements tell Manufacturers what a qualified route has to achieve before they quote.

  • Set the Designer fee

The Designer fee is a fixed amount per unit by default. A percentage would need an explicitly defined base.

Product steward

Nothing is made without your Release.

The Designer is the Product steward by default. For every Order, DISPERSAL prepares a Production ticket: the Design version, configuration, Manufacturer, process, material and parameters for that one job.

You release that exact ticket, or you do not. The Release records who approved it, when, and which version and profile. A change to any of these needs a new Release, and there is no automatic release.

Versions, Forks and files

  • Design versions are immutable

Every Product refers to one exact Design version. Changing a released version creates a new version; the old one stays as it was.

  • Forks keep their origin

A Fork is an independently evolving derivative with a traceable origin and an approved license and royalty arrangement.

  • Files are private by default

Design files are not public. Who may open or download them follows explicit access rules.

Still open

These are undecided. Nothing on this site assumes an answer.

  • License terms and fork royalties.
  • Design-file confidentiality and download permissions.
  • Allowed product categories and 3D-print processes.
  • Fee levels, a royalty default and its base, rounding and payouts.
  • Delegating the Product-steward role to someone else.
