For manufacturers
Capacity meets Designs that already have demand.
Manufacturers supply production capacity. Manufacturing starts in response to demand and goes to compatible partners. The initial focus is functional, low-risk products made by 3D printing.
Facilities cannot be registered on this site yet.
What a Manufacturer does
Declare a Facility
A Facility describes a verifiable process, machine limits, materials, capacity and region.
Qualify the Design
Manufacturers check whether they can make a Design version to its requirements.
Supply a Manufacturing quote
A quote states price, conditions, capacity, validity and the configurations it applies to. It is the Manufacturer's own figure, distinct from a Designer's estimate.
Accept released jobs
A job can be accepted only after the Product steward has released its Production ticket.
Produce, inspect and ship
Production follows the released profile exactly. The item is inspected before it is shipped.
Production ticket
You make exactly what was released.
Each Order has a Production ticket: a fixed record of the Design version, configuration, Manufacturer, process, material, parameters and price allocation.
The Product steward releases that ticket before you accept it. If the version, Manufacturer, process, material or an important parameter has to change, a new Production ticket replaces it and needs its own Release. The released ticket itself never changes.
The accepted Manufacturing quote sets the production share of the price. After an Order is placed, the price does not change silently.
Quality is traced, not assumed
Every delivered item stays linked to its Production ticket, Manufacturer, process and material. Feedback keeps design, manufacturing and fulfillment quality apart, so a Manufacturer is judged on manufacturing.
Feedback is collected on delivery, after about a month and after about a year. Quality data is shown only once it has actually been collected, together with the number of samples.
Automatic Manufacturer selection or ranking is not part of the first version.
Still open
These are undecided. Nothing on this site assumes an answer.
- Manufacturer verification and review criteria.
- The launch region.
- Which 3D-print processes and product categories come first.
- Exception timeouts and steward decision deadlines.
